A big thank you to former members of Citipointe who have sent me the following as evidence of
the ‘church’s hypocrisy surrounding the taking of photos – the crime for which
Pastor Mulheran would like to have me ‘forcibly removed’, jailed and banned
from evern coming to Cambodia again. Thank you also to XXX for sending me
copies of photos taken of the girls at Citipointe’s ‘She Rescue Home’ that
include Chanti’s daughters Rosa and Chita. The following from a recent
Citipointe newsletter:
The Christmas Spirit
Christmas in Cambodia is a
little hard to describe. Being about 90% Buddhist, there are no T.V.
advertisements to remind you to buy gifts for your family, no carols by
candlelight, very few decorations in shops or restaurants and no public
holidays. Even though the Christmas spirit wasn't really fostered
throughout the whole of Cambodia, as our girls at SHE woke they were invited to
attend morning devotion, followed by gift giving and a massive water fight to celebrate the birth of
Jesus, there was absolutely no
doubt that it was alive and well in the SHE home on Christmas day. After the presents
were given, the girls had their photo
taken in their Sunday best
before getting changed for what may have been Cambodia's biggest ever water
fight. Most staff, though not dressed for the occasion, were eventually pulled,
dragged or tricked into a saturated state, dripping from head to toe. A truce
was held for an hour to have a special lunch chosen by the girls (pizza and
spaghetti), and then some girls retired to the wading pool as others settled in
to watch a movie for the afternoon. What a day!
The celebration would not have
been the same without the generous donations from our supporters - and it was a
real team effort. A Queensland cycle club kindly donated $200 for the food and
drinks for lunch, Caleb and Sarah Wehrli from Inspire Intl donated sensational
gift bags filled with thoughtful presents, and a church in Massachusetts, USA
also provided much needed pyjamas and shoes for each and every girl. SHE Rescue
Home certainly would not be what it is without the dedicated support of our
international community. Merry Christmas!”
